On the campus of South China Normal University, there is an outstanding alumnus whose experience, like an inspiring history of struggle, is deeply imprinted in the hearts of generations of CSU students. His name is Hou Jianxiong, a fighter from the mountainous countryside of northern Guangdong, to the university halls, then to the provincial party committee, and on to state-owned enterprises, finally founding private enterprises. Thus, he has left a solid and bright footprint on the stage at home and abroad, showing the power of struggle and hard work everywhere.
First, from the mountains to South China Normal University
In 1981, Hou Jianxiong was admitted to the political science department of South China Normal University from the mountainous area of northern Guangdong province, becoming one of the few students in the county to be admitted to an undergraduate program. During the four years in college, he treated his study and life with a serious and positive attitude, and won the honorific title of sanhao all-round outstanding student for four consecutive years, becoming a good young man in the eyes of teachers and students. His college life not only laid a solid foundation for his later career, but also shaped his tenacious character.
In June 1983, Hou Jianxiong, a political science major student of South China Normal University, took a photo on the campus, showing his youthful style during his college years, which echoed his journey from the mountains to study and struggle in HuayU.
The leap from public to private organizations
After graduating in 1985, Hou Jianxiong was assigned to the Guangdong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection, where he began his career. In the eight years of working at the agency, his "mast top" consciousness and strategic thinking ability have been well cultivated. However, he was not satisfied with the stable life of the organization. In 1993, he switched to the Guangdong Tianmao Group (Tianhecheng Group), participated in the preparation and operation management of Guangzhou Tianhecheng, and became the first generation of commercial real estate developers in China.

Moving into the world energy
In 2000, with years of accumulated experience and keen business insight, Hou Jianxiong founded Guangdong Shineng Electric Power Equipment Co. Ltd., which started his entrepreneurial journey. At the beginning of the business, he faced many difficulties and challenges, but he did not flinch and led the team to meet the difficulties. He deeply studied the market demand and actively expanded the business area. The world energy company starts from the domestic surplus power generation equipment transfer business, and gradually develops and grows. With Indonesia as the starting point, Hou Jianxiong led the company to carry out business in more than ten countries including Myanmar, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Portugal, Italy, Turkey, Chile, the UAE and Uganda. They have made steady progress along the "Belt and Road" countries and actively participated in international production capacity cooperation. In this process, Hou Jianxiong gave full play to his professional advantages and leadership skills, and led the team to overcome many difficulties such as cultural differences, different policies and regulations. The company has gradually gained a firm foothold in overseas markets and won a good reputation. In Uganda, for example, the company worked with local partners to set up the country's first China-Uganda joint venture to invest in the construction of a power plant and power equipment industrial park. Among them, the 100 MW oil-fired power plant built by the cooperation has become the largest power plant in the country, providing strong power support for the local economic development; The power equipment plant has been praised by President Museveni as the benchmark of economic and trade cooperation between Uganda and China, and has made positive contributions to promoting Sino-African friendship and economic and trade cooperation.

Giving back to the community
Hou Jianxiong not only achieved commercial success, he also actively participated in all kinds of public affairs, as the Guangdong Provincial People's Government major administrative decision-making consultant, and Guangdong Provincial CPPCC overseas attendance member, to contribute to the development of the country. He also set up the "World Energy" Award and a scholarship in his alma mater, South China Normal University, to encourage students to study hard and serve the country. His family feelings also imperceptibly affected his children, his youngest son Hou Zheyuan was awarded the "2022 Guangdong New Era Good Boy", "2022 Guangzhou New Era Good Boy" and other honorary titles.
The picture shows Hou Jianxiong's support for the rural revitalization project "Snowflake Town E-commerce Public Service Center", which shows that he actively participates in public welfare and gives back to society in addition to his business success, showing his strong sense of social responsibility and family feelings.

The story of Hou Jianxiong is a vivid interpretation of the spirit of Chinese teachers. His struggle inspires every Chinese teacher. His life experience tells us that no matter what kind of environment we are in, as long as we stick to our dreams and have the courage to work hard, we can realize the value of life. As students of South China Normal University, we should follow the example of our predecessors, have dreams, be down-to-earth, walk with the times, synchronize with the country, and contribute our own strength to the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Hou Jianxiong's story, like a beacon, illuminates our way forward and inspires us to constantly pursue excellence in our own life path and write our own brilliant chapter.
