Incoming Students — Study at SCNU

Students have been coming to SCNU on short term or full academic year study for credit since 1988. The university has so far recruited over 15,000 international students from around 110 countries. After more than three decades of efforts, the university has achieved certain accomplishments in its work related to international students in China.

SCNU began enrolling Chinese Government Scholarship students in 2008 and Confucius Institute Scholarship students in 2009.

In recent years, SCNU has vigorously promoted degree education for international students, making the recruitment and cultivation of degree-seeking students a key focus. As a result, the composition of international students has undergone significant changes, with a notable increase in the proportion of degree-seeking students and continuous improvement in the quality of their education.

Outgoing Students – Study Abroad

In the past 10 years, we have sent nearly 600 teachers and 6,000 students abroad, and trained over 12,000 international students. SCNU has set up postgraduate teaching centers in Hong Kong, Macao and Malaysia.

SCNU's international exchange programs have significantly expanded with more students and researchers encouraged acquiring a global vision and learning in a multi-cultural environment.

Most SCNU students have the opportunity to go abroad at one of our partners to study as part of their degree usually for half an academic year. Some Schools and Departments have a full year study abroad option. Students are also encouraged to participate in summer or winter exchange programs.

In collaboration with our partner universities, we have embarked a variety of international transfer programs, including 3+N/4+N Combined Bachelor's-Master's Program, Program for Cultivating Outstanding Teachers, 2+2 Double Masters' Degree Programs.

Building upon these international ties and guided by institutional agreements with global partners as well as programs administered by the China Scholarship Council, the university now offers overseas study, exchange, and internship opportunities for full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students. These initiatives are designed to broaden students' global perspectives, strengthen their innovative capabilities and practical skills, while enhancing their international competitiveness and global competence.
