From August 18 to 20, the Global Smart Education Conference 2026, themed "AI and Sustainable Development of Education", was held at the Changping Campus of Beijing Normal University, in Beijing.

Hu Xiaoyong, executive deputy director of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence in Education, South China Normal University, and director of the Teacher Development Center gave a thematic report entitled Thought-Driven Teaching, Intelligent Innovation: The Inquiry-based Classroom LLM Empowers Classroom Teaching and Research, introducing the Inquiry-based Classroom LLM developed in collaboration with iFlytek, and an application model of human-AI collaboration empowering classroom teaching and research as well as teacher professional development. The presentation was well‑received by the audience.

SCNU's Institute of Artificial Intelligence in Education has co-organized the parallel session "AI and Future Teachers" for three consecutive years. The institute has also been keeps advancing research on intelligent education curriculum development, developing intelligent training systems for pre-service teachers, and building intelligent teaching and research frameworks.
