On May 24, South China Normal University (SCNU) delivered a historic performance at the 2026 Guangdong Provincial University Flag Football Championships, winning both the Men's Group B and Mixed Group B titles.
The two-day tournament, organized by the Guangdong Provincial Federation of University Sports and Arts, drew a record 490 athletes from 34 teams representing 20 universities across the province for eight competition categories (Groups A, B, C, etc.). Under the guidance of coach Liu Ruizhi, the SCNU flag football team demonstrated exceptional skill and teamwork to secure the double championship.

In the Mixed Group B competition held on the first day, SCNU dominated from the start. After advancing to the final as group leaders with multiple commanding wins, the team cruised to a 28-0 victory over Guangzhou University to claim the Mixed Group B title.

The Men's Group B final on the second day was equally impressive. SCNU once again topped their group and advanced to the final, where they faced Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. With a steady and determined performance, SCNU won 20-6, securing their third consecutive Men's Group B championship.
This victory marks SCNU's fifth trophy in the Guangdong University Flag Football Championships over the past three years: three straight Men's Group B titles (2024, 2025, 2026) and back‑to‑back Mixed Group B championships (2025, 2026). These achievements underscore SCNU's sustained excellence and deep strength in flag football.
