On March 1, Cheng Xing, from the School of Physical Education and Sports Science at South China Normal University (SCNU), alongside his partner Zhang Chi, delivered a commanding performance to claim the mixed doubles title at the 2026 BWF German Open.

The Chinese duo defeated the Danish pair Mads Vestergaard and Christine Busch in straight games, 21-12, 21-17, to secure the championship.
From the opening serve of the final, Cheng and Zhang displayed tacit understanding and tactical clarity. The duo seized early momentum in the opener through a series of sharp movements and solid offensive plays.
The second game proved to be a tighter contest as the Danish pair adjusted their strategy, intensifying their attacks. However, Cheng and Zhang remained composed. With timely tactical adjustments and steady performance under pressure during crucial rallies, the duo finally fended off the comeback attempt to seal the victory.

This gold medal marks a significant milestone in Cheng Xing’s sports career and serves as a testament to the resilient spirit of SCNU student-athletes on the international stage. SCNU remains committed to deepening the integration of sports and education, supporting its students as they strive for excellence both in the classroom and in global arenas.
