The 19th "Challenge Cup" National College Student Extracurricular Academic and Science and Technology Competition concluded at the Xianlin campus of Nanjing University on November 4. The teams from South China Normal University achieved a remarkable feat with 25 awards.

The teams won one first prize, one second prize and three third prizes in the main competition, and they also performed admirably in the special competitions. In the 2025 special "Leaderboard Challenge" competition for young sci-tech talents, one team won the "Champion" title (first place in the grand prize) for the first time, with other teams receiving one second prize, one third prize and two excellent prizes; in the special "Artificial Intelligence +" competition, students earned one grand prize, one second prize and two third prizes.
In addition, SCNU teams have won one grand prize, two first prizes, four second prizes and four third prizes previously at the 2024 special "Leaderboard Challenge" competition. The number of participants from SCNU reached 21,618 with 2,273 works. Among them, 78 works were recommended for the special "Leaderboard Challenge" competition and 109 works for the special "Artificial Intelligence +" competition.

Taking "Youth Taking on Responsibility for Chinese Modernization" as its theme, the competition establishes a "1+2+N" work matrix, namely 1 main competition, 2 special competitions of "Leaderboard Challenge" and "AI+", and holding multiple supporting activities. according to Nanjing University, the organizer of the contest. Additionally, the "Leaderboard Challenge" special competition was completed in Beijing, Zhejiang, and 8 main arena cities in 2024 and 2025 respectively.
Since its launch, the 19th "Challenge Cup" has seen participation from over 2,700 universities, involving over 400,000 projects and nearly 3 million students. A total of 640 and 643 works were respectively shortlisted for the final of main competition and the "Artificial Intelligence +" Special Competition.
Co-sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the National Federation of Students and the Provincial Government, the nationwide competition has become known as an "Olympic" event for Chinese college students in academic science and technology.
