On April 28, the Academic Committee Meeting of Key Laboratory of Laser Life Science of Ministry of Education and of Guangdong province was held at the Shipai campus of SCNU, bringing together experts and scholars from across the country to chart a course for future development of the laboratory.

SCNU vice president Wang Chunchao first gave a speech at the opening ceremony, introducing the educational characteristics of SCNU, emphasizing that the Lab facilitates the development of world-class universities and first-class disciplines besides high-level development of disciplines. He hoped that experts could give full play to the leading role of the academic committee, indicate the development dimensions of the laboratory with forward-looking strategies, and improve the scientific research development, expand the interdisciplinary fields and offer suggestions for talent cultivation. SCNU would fully support the construction and development of the laboratory, he said.
Yang Sihua, director of the laboratory reported on the aspects of overall positioning, researching direction, team building, technology transition, and academic communication at the meeting. The expert team inquired about the work of the laboratory, and suggested that the laboratory should focus on further development of stranglehold problems in photomedicine, strengthen international cooperation, and improve innovative development, as well as promote the production domestication of new high-end optical diagnosis and therapy devices.

Over the past three years, members of the laboratory have published 232 papers, and completed 27 national projects, as well as the incubation of three high-tech enterprises, including Ruili photoelectricity of SCNU, Guangdong Photoacoustic Technology and Haoxi Biotechnology.
