SCNU flag football team secured the championship status in the 2025 Guangdong Flag Football Championship for University Students, which was held at the Guangzhou Civil Aviation College from April 26 to 27.

The flag football team delivered a commanding performance in their final match of Mixed Team - Group B, defeating Guangzhou Sport University 27–0, and also beat the Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine 20-12 to seal the championship title in the final of the men's tournament.

SCNU flag football team win championships in both the men's and mixed groups.

Led by Coach Liu Ruizhi, a teacher from the School of Physical Education and Sports Science at SCNU, the team secured the championships by winning all ten matches in the tournament. As the defending champion, SCNU student team won the men's competition in 2024.

This year's event, organised by the Guangdong Students Sports & Arts Federation, saw record participation, with 387 athletes from 26 teams representing 17 universities across the Guangdong province taking part.
