On December 7, the Chinese Ceramic Society hosted the project review meeting for the high-quality science and technology journal grading directory, undertaken at SCNU. The 8th editorial board meeting of the Journal of the Chinese Ceramic Society 2024 expanded meeting of the chief editors, was held at South China Normal University in Guangzhou.

More than 30 experts and scholars in the field of inorganic non-metallic materials research from universities and experts in the management of scientific and technological journals converged on Guangzou. At the meeting, Yang Zhongmin, president of SCNU, welcomed the arrival of leaders and experts, and introduced the basic situation of South China Normal University. Yang said that since the launch of the directory of representative academic achievements in 2022, SCNU has achieved good results in promoting the output of original high-quality results, refining academic directions, building core competitiveness in disciplines, and strengthening academic construction. The meeting has strong pertinence and guiding significance for the revision of the university's directory of representative academic achievements.

Gao Ruiping, chairman of the Chinese Ceramic Society believes that the establishment of a hierarchical catalogue of high-quality scientific and technological journals is an effective measure to promote the development of a scientific and technological journal system that is compatible with a world leader in science and technology, and to help promote the high-quality development of China's scientific and technological journals. He hopes that the experts attending at the meeting could conduct reviews and evaluations of the shortlisted journals in accordance with the principles of "value orientation, peer review, and equivalent use."
At the afternoon meeting, the editorial department of the Journal of the Chinese Ceramic Society reported on the main work for 2024. Members of the editorial board had a discussion on the existing problems and made suggestions for improvement in aspects such as "improving the quality of manuscripts, increasing the number of manuscripts, shortening the review cycle, accelerating the publication progress, and strengthening the professional journal editing level." They also studied and determined the key solicitation and thematic planning for the journal from 2025 to 2026.
The experts expressed that the conference can play an important role in promoting the quality and impact of scientific journals in the field of inorganic non-metallic materials, and it is of great significance in raising the academic level of the Journal of the Chinese Ceramic Society and promoting its positive development.
