On September 20, about 50 officials, school leaders, scholars and experts from 18 units of Confucius Institute Hosting Universities Alliance in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Southern Alliance for International Chinese Education gathered at SCNU to explore ways to strenghten cooperation mechanism and to promote the development of international Chinese education and construction of overseas Confucius Institutes.

Wu Jian, vice president of SCNU, introduced the basic information of SCNU and emphasized the responsibility and exemplary role of SCNU in international Chinese education. He pointed out that SCNU has been actively serving the national opening-up and regional development needs by providing talent, intellectual support and cultural services. The university also needs to play a leading role in promoting the institutionalization of international Chinese education, he said.
Zhou Liuyu, Level IV Division Rank Official of the Exchange and Cooperation Division of the Department of Education of Guangdong province, emphasized that international Chinese education is one of the important ways for education in Guangdong to open up to the outside world. He indicated that the Department of Education of Guangdong province is willing to cooperate with the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), SCNU, and other universities to jointly promote the development of the Mechanism.
Mao Yancheng, vice director of the Office of Development and Planning of the CLEC, expressed willingness to cooperate with all parties to make new efforts to promote the high-quality development of international Chinese education in five aspects: strengthening data research and sharing, localization, digital intelligent cooperation, coordinated development, and branding communication.
Experts and scholars, representatives of participating universities, and relevant vocational institutions shared experiences, challenges and suggestions on international Chinese education, and discussed measures together.
