Wang Binwei, Secretary of the SCNU Party Committee, delivered his first lecture on ideological and political education of the spring semester at the University Town campus on March 28.
Wang started the lecture with a detailed analysis of the current global economic, political, and technological landscape and guided students to explore China's governance model in a changing world by explaining to students the connotation of Chinese-style modernization, high-quality development, and new-quality productive forces. He said that high priority must be given to the development of education for a country to become strong as education plays a vital role in the growth of a nation.
Wang then elaborated on how the university contributes to building China into a leading country in education from two perspectives: "current state of SCNU" and "future development of SCNU", introducing the history, educational achievements, and future development direction of SCNU. SCNU has trained more than 900,000 talents in different sectors and made an important contribution to cultivating builders and successors of socialism, Wang said. SCNU will make greater efforts to train talents, boost technological innovation, and optimize education services.
As he progressed, Wang appreciated the great performance of SCNUers by presenting survey results conducted previously and incorporating exemplary stories of outstanding students and alumni. "Today you honor SCNU, tomorrow SCNU honors you", he finally shared three high expectations for all SCNUers: first, to embrace the ideals of serving the nation with great dedication; second, to adopt a learning attitude with sincerity, humility, integrity, and innovation; and third, to uphold the value of dedication and responsibility.
Students said they have gained insights from the lecture and they will continue to improve their skills and abilities and take concrete steps to contribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
