On December 19, the founding conference of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Alliance for Space Science and Technology and of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Alliance for Marine Science and Technological Innovation was held at the Zhuhai campus of Sun Yat-sen University. There were about 200 representatives from 21 universities across Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. Vice-president Ma Weihua of SCNU attended the conference.
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Alliance for Space Science and Technology and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Alliance for Marine Science and Technological Innovation are professional cooperative alliances that bring together many elite universities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. They are important measures for universities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to conform to the general trend of national development and provide strong intellectual and technical support for the strategic development of national space and the ocean. SCNU is one of the first universities to join the league.
At present, 19 universities have joined the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Space Science and Technology Alliance. With the aim of improving the degree of cooperation in space science and technology among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, the members of the alliance will promote in-depth cooperation in space physics, astronomy, microgravity science and applied, lunar and planetary science, space geoscience, space weather, propulsion technology, electronic technology, automation technology and space remote sensing technology, space materials, space measurement, and space-related computational science, mathematics, physics, chemistry and other fields. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Marine Science and Technological Innovation Alliance has 22 universities among its members. It will bring together the marine wisdom of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, promotemarine innovative development in this region, cultivate high-level talents in the marine field to develop the "Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Marine Resources Sharing Platform". The cooperation areas cover marine science, marine technology, marine engineering, marine humanities, marine strategy and marine industry research, and the development of a public experimental platform for marine research , cultivation of talents, academic exchange, application of marine scientific research projects, and transformation of marine scientific and technological achievements, etc.
