The inaugural meeting of the South China Normal University (SCNU) UK Alumni Association took place in London on 26 June. Wang Chunchao, Vice President of South China Normal University, attended the event together with representatives from relevant university departments, alumni across the UK and guests from other universities, marking the official launch of the association.

Representing the university, Wang Chunchao congratulated the UK Alumni Association on its establishment and conveyed greetings from Wang Hengyin, Secretary of the CPC SCNU Committee, to alumni in the UK. He outlined the university's recent progress in the Double First-Class Initiative, academic development, talent cultivation and international engagement.

Wang expressed hope that the UK Alumni Association would unite alumni in the UK, build platforms for networking and professional growth, and foster cooperation between SCNU and British universities and institutions in education, science and technology, and the humanities.
During the ceremony, Wang presented the UK Alumni Association with an "Alumni Home" plaque on behalf of the university, symbolizing the university's support for its overseas alumni organizations.

Qiu Yong, Chair of the Board of Directors of the UK Alumni Association, introduced the background to its founding, organizational structure and future work priorities. He said the association would focus on serving alumni in the UK, supporting the development of the university and facilitating talent exchange between China and the UK. It aims to build an overseas alumni platform with strong cohesion and broad influence.
Huang Qing'an, President of the UK Alumni Association, read out congratulatory letters and messages from other SCNU alumni associations. Alumni representatives shared their experiences of studying, working and living in the UK, and discussed ways to strengthen alumni connections and mutual support, promote educational and technological exchanges between China and the UK, and support the development of their alma mater.
Chen Shuguang, President of the Federation of UK Guangdong Chinese and Jinan University UK Alumni Association, attended the ceremony. He encouraged university alumni associations in the UK to strengthen collaboration and share resources, contributing to the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The founding of the UK Alumni Association further expands SCNU's overseas alumni network. As one of the university's key alumni organizations in Europe, the association will serve as a platform for alumni in the UK to connect and collaborate, while helping the university forge links with British universities and research institutions.
In addition, the association will help promote the university's talent recruitment policies and career opportunities, recommend overseas scholars and high-level professionals, and support the development of academic disciplines and an internationally oriented faculty at the university.
