On September 10, a delegation of 11 members from the Penang Du Zhong Education Foundation visited and signed a cooperation agreement with SCNU. The delegation will cooperate with Penang, Malaysia to build a "Postgraduate Teaching base of South China Normal University" to admit part-time postgraduate students, and to cultivate professional and high-quality teachers and administrators for the Penang Chinese Language School. This is the first foreign postgraduate teaching center set up by South China Normal University in cooperation with foreign educational institutions, and also the first international cooperation project for foreign postgraduates.
Before the signing ceremony, Wang Enke, president of South China Normal University, met with the Penang Education delegation and introduced the internationalization work of our university. He said that the school will give full support to the construction of the Penang graduate teaching center, adhere to the concept of opening schools and serving the community, run international cooperation programs for graduate students, and devote itself to training high-quality and professional teachers and managers for the Penang Chinese schools. He stressed that the relevant functional departments and colleges of the school should carefully refine the cooperative school program and implement the project smoothly.
At the signing ceremony, Wu Jian, vice president of South China Normal University, on behalf of South China Normal University, signed a cooperative school-running agreement with Du Qianhuan, chairman of the Penang Du Zhong Secondary Education Foundation in Malaysia. Wu Jian said that in recent years, against the background of the "one Belt and one Road" initiative, South China Normal University has maintained close cooperation with the education center of the Du Zhong education center in Penang, and has repeatedly sent delegations to exchange visits. After signing the contract, the two sides conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the specific implementation plan of the cooperative school running project. Zhang Wei, executive vice-dean of the Graduate School, said that the Chinese teachers will closely meet the teachers' needs of the Penang Primary School, take advantage of our superior disciplines and school-running experience, set up master's degree courses in Penang, formulate enrollment plans and training programs in detail, arrange high-quality teachers to teach, and ensure the quality of teaching. Both sides expressed their hope that there will be further opportunities for cooperation in short-term teacher training, the occupying post of secondary school principal and academic exchanges in the future.
After the ceremony, the Penang Education Delegation, accompanied by its staff, visited the campus of South China Normal University.
