On July 9, the "South China Normal University - University of Milano-Bicocca International Joint Laboratory of Quantum Structure Photocatalysis" (hereinafter referred to as QuCAT), co-established by South China Normal University (SCNU) and the University of Milano-Bicocca, was officially unveiled. Relying on the School of Physics of SCNU and the International Joint Research Center for Green Optoelectronics of China’s International Science and Technology Cooperation Base, QuCAT dedicates itself to becoming a new world-class innovation platform with the ability to transform scientific research results in the field of into novel quantum nanostructured photocatalytic materials and devices.
The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on the construction of QuCAT.
In the morning, Zhu Hong, vice president of SCNU, extended his warm welcome to vice president Gianfranco Pacchioni, Professor Riccardo Ruffo and Professor Stefano Sanguinetti of the University of Milano-Bicocca. Deputy director of the Graduate School of SCNU, Qin Honglei, deputy director of the office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs, Zhou Guofu, dean of the South China Advanced Optoelectronics Research Institute, Chen Bihua, general secretary of the South China Acadamy of Advanced Optoelectronics, and Professor Richard Nötzel, attended the meeting. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on the history and culture of the two universities and exchanged their opinions on the blueprint for the construction of QuCAT. Zhu Hong said he hoped to deepen the cooperation with the University of Milano-Bicocca to promote scientific research, and strive for good results in talent training and international exchange. Gianfranco Pacchioni agreed with this and he welcomed teachers and students of SCNU to visit the University of Milano-Bicocca.
SCNU vice president Zhu Hong signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Milano-Bicocca, marking the opening of QuCAT.
On behalf of SCNU, Zhu Hong signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Milano-Bicocca and with the QuCAT as well, marking the opening of QuCAT. Professor Zhou Guofu, as the representative of the laboratory on the Chinese side, discussed specific items such as joint training of students, academic exchange, and cooperation in detail with the Italian side. QuCAT is the first international joint laboratory co-built by SCNU and a famous Italian university. The establishment of the laboratory brings the level of SCNU's internationalization of higher education to a new height.
In the afternoon, Gianfranco Pacchioni, Riccardo Ruffo and Stefano Sanguinetti visited the South China Academy of Advanced Optoelectronics, and they had a heated discussion with the teachers and students of the Institute on academic issues such as cutting-edge scientific research. The students said this academic exchange has further deepened their understanding of Italian academic culture, and they hoped to further enrich their knowledge through this potential platform.
After visiting the laboratory, the representatives of the University of Milano-Bicocca spoke highly of the scientific and research level of SCNU. They believed that thanks to such excellent teaching teams and leading scientific research level, the two universities will have a deeper cooperation in more areas.
