From August 16 to 31, SCNU once again launched the Innovation and Entrepreneur Pioneer Training Camp (International Class) project, selecting 54 outstanding students to visit Stanford University, the University of California Berkeley and Nanyang Technological University to take part in innovative and entrepreneurial overseas training courses.
During the two-weeks of study, students not only listened to the lectures of internationally renowned experts and professors in innovation and entrepreneurship, but also experienced the education of world-renowned universities. What's more, they conducted research on famous companies such as Google and Intel, and visited Singapore URA (urban planning) and business incubators. They experienced the innovation and entrepreneurship culture and had a deeper understanding of innovation and entrepreneurship.
San Francisco - Silicon Valley: a highland of human innovation and wisdom
At Stanford University, Professor Andy Swikty and Phillip Whalen, respectively, focused on “design thinking” and “value proposition”, inspiring students to use design thinking to implement innovation, and explaining the key points of innovation and entrepreneurial value proposition.
At the University of California, Berkeley, Professor Gary Katzenstein and Frank Schultz gave students topics on leadership. They analyzed leadership and business models in terms of consciousness, relationship, trust, and emotion, which enabled students to learn to look at issues from the perspective of leaders, thereby improving the team's tacit understanding and making the team more cohesive.
In this process, the students of our school and the students from Tsinghua University, Capital Normal University and other colleges formed a teaching class. Under the guidance of famous teachers, they took part in the innovative entrepreneurship course and took part in the business plan competition.
Everyone worked diligently, and improved their innovative thinking and leadership. Apart from classroom learning, the students also visited such well-known companies as Google and Intel in Silicon Valley, carried out outward bound training at Stanford University, and conducted on-site investigations of NASA, Draper University and other institutions. Through their own experiences, they understood more about the business operation mode and innovation and, they can feel the unique charm of innovative companies by themselves.
Singapore: a miracle country full of innovative entrepreneurial culture
During the remaining 10 days, teachers and students of SCNU visited NTU. Many teachers from the Nanyang Technopreneurship Center taught 31 teachers and students from SCNU a series of innovative and entrepreneurial courses.
Focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship, Professors Fu Zhijun and Xie Yaoqing of NTU, starting with the history of Singapore and NTU, talked about their innovative thinking and entrepreneurial spirit in a unique way, and shared their life story. Professor Fu Zhiyi presented a program on “Creativity, Innovation and Business Opportunity Recognition". Students worked in pairs to design “a wallet he/she wants" for their partner. In this way, students can learn to understand and practice consumer's demand, which is a critical factor in the entrepreneurial process.
In addition to experiencing the immersive entrepreneurial class at NTU, the students also conducted two-day leadership training. Under the guidance of the Challenge Camp Trainer, students took part in the “Simulated Financial Exchange",“Island Amazing Race",“Arrow Competition”and“High Altitude Challenge”projects. Besides valuable knowledge and insight, the students gained lasting friendship.
During this training, 54 teachers and students gained more ideas on innovation and entrepreneurship, broadened their international horizons, learned more about the multiculturalism of the United States and Singapore, and gained a deeper understanding of innovation and entrepreneurship. At the same time, they also have a better understanding of their study and teaching career.
