From June 22 to 27, Wang Chunchao, vice president of South China Normal University, led a delegation to France and the United Kingdom, visiting Rennes School of Business in France, the University of Aberdeen and the University of Reading, both in the UK. During the trip, SCNU unveiled its first overseas international education innovation port in Rennes, further deepened its partnerships with the University of Aberdeen and the University of Reading, established its UK alumni association in London, and held its first 2026 global talent recruitment event at Imperial College London.

At the Paris and Rennes campuses of Rennes School of Business, Wang Chunchao held talks with Chairman of the board Emmanuel Thaunier and president professor Adilson Borges, and other senior leaders. The two sides signed an agreement to jointly launch the SCNU–Rennes international education innovation port and held an unveiling ceremony on site. Building on their existing joint education programs, the two institutions agreed to advance substantive exchange in two-way student and faculty mobility, industry-university collaboration, internships and practical training, and innovation and entrepreneurship.The jointly launched RSB Digital Business Institute received official approval in late 2025. The delegation also visited Tencent’s Paris office to explore overseas internship and career opportunities for students in emerging engineering and business disciplines.

The delegation then visited the University of Aberdeen and held in-depth talks and thematic discussions with professor Peter Edwards, principal, professor Nicholas Forsyth, senior vice-principal, and other university leaders. Building on the Aberdeen Institute of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and the joint undergraduate program in Finance, the two sides agreed to further strengthen academic and research cooperation, high-level talent cultivation and faculty development, and to plan a series of events to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their partnership. The delegation also visited the university’s teaching and research facilities and met with SCNU students and alumni studying in Aberdeen.

At the University of Reading, the delegation met with Alex Boughton, Vice-Chancellor’s Representative, professor Sarah Marston, dean of the Institute of Education, and officials from Henley Business School. The two sides reached broad agreement on two-way student and faculty exchange, joint doctoral training, overseas progression to graduate study, and the joint development of academic and research platforms. The two sides plan to sign a memorandum of understanding in the near future.

The SCNU UK alumni association was officially established in London, and the SCNU alumni home was unveiled at the same event. Attendees included members of the first council and board of supervisors of the UK alumni association, representatives of UK alumni associations and chambers of commerce from other Guangdong universities, and overseas alumni and students.

The delegation held SCNU’s first 2026 global talent recruitment event at Imperial College London, introducing SCNU’s development and recruitment policies to over 100 early-career researchers from the UK, Germany and other countries on the university’s development, recruitment policies, faculty welfare packages and academic support initiatives, and the academic progress of its schools and colleges to attract outstanding global academic talentsto SCNU.

Officials from the Aberdeen Institute of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, the International Business College, the RSB Digital Business Institute, the School of Electronic Science and Engineering, the School of Education, and the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation accompanied the delegation.
