A SCNU delegation organised by the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation has concluded a six-day official visit to Thailand and Indonesia, held from 8 to 13 June.

The delegation visited leading local public and private universities and education institutions in both countries, and met with the university’s Chinese language teacher volunteers, students and alumni based there. Delegates held in-depth talks with Universitas Indonesia on joint student training, exchange programmes and long- and short-term cooperation projects. They also discussed launching and upgrading 2+2 joint programmes, study-in-China recruitment, teacher volunteer schemes, cultural summer camps and local teacher training with partners including Bangkok University, Asian International Friendship College and Dongpo College.

In Thailand, the team visited the Confucius Institute at Chulalongkorn University, met volunteer staff, exchanged views on Chinese language education and Thai student recruitment, and toured the Chinese Cultural Activity Centre. They also visited education providers REJOINING GLOBAL and Oriental Education Network to research local demand for Chinese learning and study-in-China trends. In Indonesia, delegates toured alumnus-founded firm Fantech and held an alumni roundtable on local innovation and technology markets.
