The 2026 annual board meeting of the Institut Confucius de la Réunion (France) was held on March 30. Eighteen representatives from both sides attended the on-line meeting.

Wang Chunchao, vice president of SCNU, pointed out that over the past year, the Institut Confucius de la Réunion has enhanced international Chinese language education, promoted Chinese cultural exchange, and strengthened talent fostering. Through the Confucius Institute, SCNU will continue to explore new pathways for the high-quality development of international Chinese language education, deepen cooperation in talent cultivation, research innovation and cultural exchange, and advance the “Chinese +” initiatives and AI-empowered teaching, so as to foster closer China-France relations.

Chaker El Kalamouni, vice president of the University of la Réunion, expressed gratitude to SCNU for its strong support in the development of the Confucius Institute there. He spoke highly of its achievements in promoting China-France cultural exchange and advancing local Chinese language education. He also highlighted the collaborative ties between the Université de la Réunion and SCNU, looking forward to further exchange and cooperation ahead.

This board meeting witnessed the 16th anniversary of the Institut Confucius de La Réunion. Having trained over 11,400 participants, the Confucius Institute has been integrated into the overall development plan of the Université de la Réunion.
