The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) has awarded direct funding to 128 projects at SCNU for 2025. The funding has reached a record-breaking 72.2 million yuan.

The 128 projects at SCNU have been awarded funding in various categories: 5 from as Key Program, 3 from the Young Scientists Fund (Category A) (formerly known as the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars), 1 from the Young Scientists Fund (Category B) (formerly known as Excellent Young Scientists Fund), 1 from the Key International (Regional) Joint Research Program, 58 from the General Program, 57 from the Young Scientists Fund (Category C), and 3 in other categories. 

The funding for basic research in mathematics and physics leads with 20 million yuan, followed by life sciences (16.1 million yuan) and earth sciences (9.3 million yuan). Projects in the fields of chemistry and information sciences received funding of 12.5 million yuan and 6 million yuan, respectively. Research areas, including management sciences, engineering and material sciences, and health sciences, are also included.

Overall, SCNU achieved a 20.7% success rate for applications, eight percentage points higher than the national average of 12.3%, while the Young Scientists Fund (Category C) reached a 32.6% success rate for applications, also well above the national average.
