The latest ESI data released by Clarivate on July 10 reveal that SCNU has achieved another milestone as its Earth Science discipline ranks in global top 1%. This brings SCNU's total number of ESI top 1% disciplines to 15, ranking fourth among normal universities in China.

Earth Science ranks ESI top 1%.
SCNU now ranks 788th globally, up 54 places since 2024. So far it has 15 disciplines listed in the ESI global top 1%, covering over two-thirds of ESI subject areas: Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Environment & Ecology, Plant & Animal Science, Social Sciences (General), Psychiatry & Psychology, Physics, Mathematics, Clinical Medicine, Computer Science, Agricultural Science, Neuroscience & Behavior, Biology & Biochemistry, and Earth Science. Among these, eight disciplines rank within the global top 0.5%, five are in the top 0.3%, and two—Materials Science and Chemistry—have reached the top 0.2%.
The newly added Earth Science discipline received contributions from 14 secondary teaching and research units, with the School of Geographical Sciences, the School of Environment, the School of Computer Science, and the School of Life Sciences playing key roles. The School of Geographical Sciences contributed the most, significantly at 84.85%, followed by the School of Environment (11.16%), the School of Computer Science (1.37%), and the School of Life Sciences (1.24%).

SCNU’s total number of ESI top 1% disciplines has increased to 15.
