During the meeting, Yang Zhongmin spoke highly of the achievements in cultivating international talent through the cooperative education institution jointly established by the two universities. He hoped to further leverage respective strengths of both sides to expand collaboration in areas such as joint laboratory construction and postgraduate-level cooperative programs, enhancing the outcomes of the Aberdeen Institute of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence in Foshan, and jointly advancing the high-quality development of both institutions.

The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on improving talent cultivation and deepening strategic cooperation. As a key international platform for SCNU, Aberdeen Institute will focus on optimizing talent training systems, building high-level research platforms, and expanding international student enrollment, so as to set a benchmark for Chinese-foreign cooperative education, Wang Chunchao said.
Peter Edwards recognized that SCNU is the most important partner of the University of Aberdeen in China. The university would seize the opportunity of the institute’s upgrade to strengthen collaboration with SCNU in research, joint laboratory initiatives, and dual-campus student programs, fostering closer academic exchange between faculty and students, he said.
Zeng Biqing, dean of the Aberdeen Institute of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (Foshan), provided updates on progress and plans for master's and doctoral program applications, British faculty teaching in China, English language teaching reforms, dual-campus programs, and international students recruitment.
