A delegation led by Yang Zhongmin, president of SCNU made an important visit to Russia from January 22 to 26 to deepen and expand cooperation with Russian universities.
The delegation visited Lomonosov Moscow State University (LMSU) and the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSEU), where they met with alumni and students working or studying in Moscow. The delegation also attended the 270th anniversary celebration of Lomonosov Moscow State University.
During the visit to LMSU, Yang held talks with Yuri A. Mazei, vice president for International Exchanges of LMSU. They agreed to jointly support the two universities in promoting dual-degree and joint programs, and improving the level of talent training to graduate students, especially PhD students and expanding cooperation in fields such as mathematics, economics and physics.
To push the cooperation of relevant professional fields between the two universities, the delegation of SCNU visited the Faculty of Foreign Language and Area Studies, the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, the Faculty of Physics and the Moscow School of Economics of LMSU. Yang introduced the latest development and advantages of SCNU in the talks and shared his hope that both sides can have educational cooperation and communication in more fields, levels and forms.
G. Molchanova, vice dean of the Faculty of Foreign Language and Area Studies and I. Bochkov, director of the International Coperation and Exchange Office and assistant to the president of LMSU, had an in-depth discussion with the delegation of SCNU and agreed to strengthen the communication between teachers and students and to promote joint undergraduate and graduate programs, the academic exchange of PhD students, the teaching of Chinese electives, as well as exchanges and mutual employment of experts and scholars.
Professor A. Shafarevich and Professor A. Ivanov, dean and vice dean of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, had discussions with the delegation of SCNU. Professor Shafarevich said that SCNU is a high-level university specializing in teacher education with a strong tradition of excellence in mathematics and both sides have several areas of mutual interest in the field of mathematics. He hoped to establish communication and exchange in the field of mathematics and to discuss talents training and academic research with SCNU as soon as possible.
Professor V. Belokurov, dean of the Faculty of Physics, exchanged views with the delegation of SCNU. He introduced the situation of scientific research in the field of optics and hoped to cooperate with SCNU in the study and academic research at the doctoral level. After that the delegation of SCNU visited several laboratories and workshops at LMSU.
Professor Alexander Auzan and Professor Oleg Buklemishev, dean and vice dean of dean of the Moscow School of Economics, communicated with the delegation of SCNU. The two sides reached preliminary consensus in areas such as the exchange and mutual employment of young teachers, joint training of students, and short-term visits to China for entrepreneurs.
During the visit to LMSU, the delegation of SCNU was invited to join celebration activities of the 270th anniversary of the university.
At HSEU, the delegation of SCNU talked with Nikita Anisimov and Victoria Panova, dean and vice dean of the university. Yang briefed the basic information and the advantages of SCNU and hoped that both sides can cooperate and communicate in the fields of talent training, faculty exchange and scientific research. Mr. Anisimov introduced the characteristics of the development and achievements of HSEU and expressed his hope to cooperate with SCNU in five major areas, including joint laboratories, joint double degree programs, and Russian and Chinese language teaching.
Besides, they also met with students and alumni studying and living in Moscow and sent them greetings and wishes as the Chinese New Year approaches.
