On November 22, president Wang Enke and vice president Wu Jian met with the delegation led by president Abd El Wahab Ezzat of the University of Ain Shams, Egypt. The two sides signed a memorandum of cooperation at the school level and reached consensus on cooperation. They hoped to have academic cooperation in areas such as education and training, academic research on the Belt and Road initiative, especially in Chinese language training, educational technology, basic subject teaching, postgraduate overseas practice base, and Chinese major double degree programs, etc..
Founded in 1950, Ain Shams University is located in Cairo, Egypt. It is the third largest comprehensive university in Egypt. Currently, the university has 230,000 students, and it is the first university in Egypt to open a Chinese department, making it the only university in the Middle East and Africa fully equipped with an institution of higher Chinese education.
Professor Esraa Abd Elsayed, the director of the International Cooperation Department of Ain Shams University, and Professor Mohamed Sharif Alkotb, the director of the Project Unit, followed up. Qin Honglei, deputy director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of our school, and Fang Qingming, deputy dean of the International Cultural Institute, were also present at the meeting.
