Entry Requirements for Chinese-Taught Programs

Application Requirements

Non Degree program

Graduated from junior middle school, 18 to 55 years old with a good health condition.

Undergraduates

Equal to high school qualification in China. Applicants must be below the age of 55. A good health condition. 4-year study

Graduates

Equal to Undergraduate qualification in China. Applicants must be below   the age of 55. A good health condition. 2-3 years' study.

Doctoral Degree Students

Equal to Master graduate in China. Applicants must be below the age of 55, study for 4 years. A good health condition. 4 years’ study.

Note:  Application for the Chinese Major at College of International Cultures is exempted from HSK requirement. For other degree programs, applicants should achieve New HSK Level 5 or above.

Application Procedures

Visit website:http://istudy.scnu.edu.cn and create personal account.

Fill in personal information and upload required materials. (See Notice 1)

▽(The time for verification is 7-14 days)

Applicants will receive a digital admission notice if their materials are verified.

SCNU will apply for Visa Application Form for foreign students and send the form with the admission notice in about 90 days.

▽(Delivery time is about 7 days)

Applicants go to the local Chinese embassy with the Form and the admission notice to apply for visa.

Enroll at SCNU in the specific time mentioned in the admission notice.

Postgraduates (master's degree)

one photocopy of passport, Diploma of College and full transcript (in Chinese or English), two recommendation letters from   professor or associate professor, Copy of HSK Test Report, a study plan for postgraduate, recent personal photo.

Postgraduates (doctoral degree)

one photocopy of passport, Diploma of master degree and full transcript (in Chinese or in English), two recommendation   letters from professor or associate professor, Copy of HSK Test Report, a study plan, recent personal photo.

Notice 2:

1. All kinds of certificate and transcripts needed to be verified and issued by certain organizations.

2. Original copies are required during enrollment. Enrollment will be refused without complete documents or forgery.

3. All documents needed to be translated into Chinese or English.

4. Undergraduate program of Chinese Language and Literature accept transfer students. Students with HSK Level 4 certificate or have one year's study in China can apply for sophomore year study. Students with HSK Level 5 certificate or have two years' study in China can apply for junior year study.

Rents vary in different campuses.

Average rent is about 2,000-4,000 yuan per month; 

◇ For University town campus:

Average rent is about 1,000-3,000 yuan per month;

◇ For Nanhai campus

Average rent is about 700-1,000 yuan per month.

1. All fees are calculated in RMB yuan. Fees are subject to change each year.

2. Dormitory can be booked in advance. First order, first served.

3. Foreign students are allowed to live off campus. According to relevant rules, students are required to register in local police station within the first 24 hours when they move in.

4. After one month of semester, tuition fees will not be returned if it's not the school's responsibilities.

5. Students can live in International Students Housing only for a semester.
