Lin Haian, deputy director of SCNU's Publicity Department, explained that different from previous contests, a new category for short video productions was created in this fourth edition, beside the essay category. This year's contest welcomed students' stories and insights in "SCNU & Me". A total of 312 entries were submitted from over 410 students of 39 schools and institutes. After three rounds of review, 32 students were shortlisted for awards, Lin said.

Chen Zhenghong, director of the Publicity Department, congratulated all winners. He hoped to see students keep their country in mind, increase confidence in their own culture, develop all-round ability, and share stories about SCNU. All students should take upon them the responsibility for better telling China's stories, making China's voice heard, and presenting a China that is credible, appealing, and respectable.

A winner in the writing category, Chen Bao, of the School of Foreign Studies, wrote his stories at SCNU, conveying his affection for the teachers and the school. He said that participating in the contest not only improved his English writing ability, but also nurtured a sense of mission and responsibility as an individual to contribute to the improvement of the school.

Zhang Jianian, also of the School of Foreign Studies, made a speech on behalf of the winners in the video category. He said that his team created the award-winning video, which encourages students to strive for their dreams by recognizing their advantages, and setting goals. He was inspired by reality, thus making the video. To him, the precious memories of working with his teammates were important, as they gained valuable experience in video making.

Following the ceremony, a seminar on the development of the SCNU English website was held. Participants exchanged views on possible improvements to the website concerning target audience, content operation and linking with other affiliated departments and institutes. They also gave suggestions on calling for more support of disciplines, human resources and technology.

Participants exchanged views in the seminar on the development of the SCNU English website.

The development of the English website was significant for promoting international collaboration and boosting popularity of South China Normal University, said Chen. He hoped the development of the English website would get underway as the departments and institutes cooperate more closely, thereby building a website which provides better service for faculty and students and contributes to SCNU's "Double First-Class" development.

The contest was co-organized by the Publicity Department, the Student Affairs Department, the Graduate School, and the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, with the support of the SCNU English website. The English website is an important platform for showcasing campus life and academic level, in order to promote the international image and strengthen international exchange. Currently the SCNU English website has accumulated more than 600,000 page views, and updated over 1,000 pieces of news. With foreign visits reaching 55%, it has more than 100,000 users from 180 countries and regions.
