Different animals emerge day and night around the campus of South China Normal University. Let's guess which animals appear at different times on World Wildlife Day!
In the early morning,
the sun lazily puts up its head in the east,
shedding a bright light on the SCNU campus.
Clouds and gentle breezes dance in the playful pursuit,
their frolics painting the sky with joy.
Unwittingly, in this lively scene,
some adorable creatures gradually revive.
Who is singing to wake you up?
Who is flying to exude its charm?
Who is stretching to enjoy the sunshine?
A Chinese bulbul (Pycnonotus sinensis) stands on a branch, like an old man but with a youth's vigor. "Gu Gua Gua", with lovely singing, it gazes at each passing SCNUer and wishes them a refreshing new day.
A Cycad Blue (Luthrodes pandava) stops on a flower, exposing its colorful and glittering eyespots. Having rested upon the nicest flower, with the flavor of fresh dew and fragrant grass, this butterfly dances in the air gracefully, showing its gorgeous posture to each passer-by.
A ginger cat, with stripes, scratches itself in the sun with relish. Shined upon by the sun, the cat's fur shimmers with radiant luster, attracting each SCNUer to stroke.
In the afternoon,
the sunlight shines on the fallen leaves,
making everything look golden.
Colorful flowers are blooming beneath the blue sky,
and the sunshine is reflected on the lake,
making it shine like diamonds.
Who is quietly having a big meal?
Who are dancing together on the warm lake?
Who is enjoyably appreciating the flowers?
A Lesser Banded Hornet (Vespa affinis) sits on a tree trunk sucking sap and eating hungrily. He is not picky at all for his food, which includes insects, wood, flowers and so on.
Geese are hanging out with their friends and taking a dip in the refreshing water, basking in the sunshine and exploring lake for hidden treasures.
A cute dog wearing pink is awed by the raw beauty of nature. When the gentle wind blows, it smells the rich scent of grass and earth.
At night,
the moon appears in all its elegant whiteness,
lightening up the cloudless sky.
Clusters of stars decorate the vast sky,
weakly shining in the darkness.
Who is resting on the roadside after dinner?
Who is strangely working at night?
Who is singing gently outside at midnight?
A White Wagtail (Motacilla alba) is having a short break on the roadside after dinner, silently observing the exhausted students on their way to the canteen.
A nocturnal lizard slowly climbs up the tree to have a commanding view of the evening campus. A wealth of rustling leaves still clings to the branches of the trees.
A spectacled toad, in a suit with black spots, plays a symphony outside the dorm. Soaking in the appealing melody, SCNUers finally shed their fatigue, sweetly into their dreams.
Want to explore more mysteries of these animal friends? Come and have a wonderful time with them at SCNU!
