Do you really need a Master's degree? Is it really worth studying? What kind of talents are suitable for graduate study? With these questions, we conducted street interviews on the campus with students from all grades to see their views.
In recent years, the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy has created more pressure on job market. Talents with higher education and skill are more popular in the market. More students decided to enroll in the national graduate entrance examinations and seek for higher degree so as to improve their competitiveness.
According to the Ministry of Education, 4.57 million candidates registered for the 2022 examination, with a year-on-year increase of about 21%, reaching the second-highest growth rate in the past 20 years. But, the enrollment number fell instead of rising, and the acceptance rate dropped from 29.55% to 24.22%.
It’s true that graduate study may take your career in an exciting new direction. But it also throws a huge challenge that takes time, money and self-discipline for you, you need to spare no effort but might also end in nothing.
So, do you really need a Master’s degree? Is it really worth studying? What kind of talents are suitable for graduate study? With these questions, we conducted street interviews on the campus with students from all grades to see their views. Moreover, we also invite SCNU master students as well as undergraduate alumni to share different ideas from the perspective of a master candidate, a PhD candidate and a software engineer.
