As the New Year draws near, it's time to look back and reflect on 2024. In retrospect, 2024 has been marked by collective achievements and transformative moments. From international exchange, to academic and athletic accomplishments, SCNUers have consistently shone on both local and global stages. Let's take a look at some of the key highlights of this extraordinary year.
January - March
The plaque-unveiling ceremony of Hong Kong's first teacher training and exchange base and the launch ceremony of the eighth Mainland study tour for Hong Kong new teachers were held at South China Normal University on January 10.

The founding ceremony of the Institute on Rural Vitalization of South China Normal University and the promotion meeting on "High-quality Development Project for Hundreds of Counties, Thousands of Towns and Myriads of Villages" were held on the Shipai campus of SCNU on January 27.

SCNU held the 2024 high-quality Development Conference & CPC SCNU Committee meeting and the spring semester work meeting from February 22 to 23.

April - June
Elsevier officially released the 2023 list of "Highly Cited Chinese Researchers" on March 27. SCNU boasted 19 scholars on the list, ranking 3rd among teacher training universities and 67th among all universities in China.

SCNU pocketed the Guangdong Victory Cup once more in the 14th "Challenge Cup" Entrepreneurship Competition for Guangdong College Students, with three gold, eight silver and nine bronze.

July - September
The Mainland-Hong Kong Teachers Exchange and Collaboration Programme 20th anniversary celebration opening ceremony and conference was held at SCNU in Guangzhou on July 4.

SCNU has secured seven awards at the finals of the 4th National Teaching Innovation Contest for College Teachers held from July 27 to 31, which tied for first place in the number of awards.

On August 4, Liang Weikeng, an undergraduate from SCNU's School of Physical Education & Sports Science, and his partner Wang Chang won the silver medal in the men's doubles badminton event at the Paris Olympic Games.

Wang Xueer, a master student of the School of Physical Education & Sports Science of SCNU, who competed in the preliminary heats, won the bronze medal in the Women 4×100 m Medley Relay of the Paris Olympic Games on August 5.

Eleven "double world-class project" universities including SCNU have been selected in the second batch pilot universities for the National Excellent Primary and Secondary School Teachers Training Program.

October - December
SCNU held activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China on October 1.

Seventy-five SCNU scholars have been named in the World's Top 2% Scientists 2024 list published by Stanford University and Elsevier on September 16, of whom 25 have been selected on both the "career-long impact" list and "single year impact" list.

On October 15, SCUN teams made a historic achievement, winning one gold award and two silver awards at the China International College Students' Innovation Competition 2024.

SCNU has 27 first-level disciplines listed in 2024 Best Chinese Subjects Ranking (BCSR), a professional higher educational evaluation system published by the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy on October 15, ranking 45th among all universities and 4th among teacher training universities in China.

Forty-one projects were approved by SCNU, ranking it twenty-first among national colleges and universities, fifth among teacher training colleges and second among universities in Guangdong province, according to the annual project list released by the National Social Science Foundation of China (NSSFC) on October 15.

The 2024 International Student Gala "Charming Guangdong, Living My Dreams" was held at the University Town campus on November 7. More than 600 international students from over 40 countries attended to promote intercultural exchange and integration through various cultural performances.

SCNU held the "Southeast Asian Forum" 2024 International Conference on November 16.

SCNU made a new breakthrough at the final of the 19th "Challenge Cup" National College Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Competition on November 17, winning one grand prize, two first prizes, four second prizes and four third prizes.

SCNU held the talent work conference on December 12 to further optimize talent introduction and education.
