The camp trained the students across five frontier fields, including artificial intelligence and life sciences, through nearly 30 research micro-projects. This year’s program adopted a model of 12-day intensive training plus 2-year follow-up. The training covers general studies, project-based learning, and final presentations, followed by two years of academic mentoring and career planning. Dedicated places have been reserved for students from county-level high schools to extend quality science education resources to eastern, western, and northern Guangdong.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Li Biliang, deputy director of the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, said the camp is a key step in advancing the development of a leading country in education and accelerating the cultivation of top innovative talent. He noted that Guangdong has established the nation’s first provincial guidance center for science education in primary and secondary schools, co-founded with SCNU, and put forward the “SHINE” (Science, Humanities, Innovation, Independence, Excellence) philosophy.

The camp is led by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, organized by the Provincial Guidance Center for Primary and Secondary School Science Education, and jointly run by nine universities and research institutes. The closing ceremony is to be held on July 29 at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, in Shenzhen.
