The AMBA & BGA Global Conference was recently held in the city of Madrid, Spain. The School of Economics and Management at South China Normal University (SCNU) was invited to attend and presented the school's education achievements to peer institutions worldwide. SCNU received the BGA gold re-accreditation certificate at the conference. This marks the School's successful completion of BGA international re-accreditation and the granting of the maximum five-year accreditation term. Following its initial BGA gold accreditation in 2023 — the first one among normal universities in China — this achievement represents renewed, high-level recognition from an authoritative international institution on the School's education quality, talent development and internationalization, and stands as a major milestone in its efforts to cultivate top-tier innovative talents in new business disciplines.
From March 30 to 31, 2026, the international accreditation expert panel from BGA conducted a two-day on-site evaluation for the School. The panel was chaired by Professor Andrea Sianesi, former dean of the School of Management at Politecnico di Milano, and included Professor Yusniza Kamarulzaman, dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, Universiti Malaya; Professor Wang Chongming, distinguished professor of Humanities and Social Sciences at Zhejiang University and BGA China Chief Representative; and Mr. George Lliev, Accreditation Director of AMBA & BGA.
During the evaluation period, the expert panel carried out a comprehensive and systematic on-site review of the School's performance over the past three years through closed-door meetings, document reviews and leadership meetings, focusing on multiple dimensions including students' cultivation, discipline development, teaching quality assurance, program management, social service and industry impact.
On the morning of March 30, Wang Chunchao, vice president of SCNU and a member of the Standing Committee of the University's CPC Committee, met with the panel experts. He introduced the overall development of SCNU in recent years and the progress of the disciplines of economics and management. He elaborated on the University's future development plans and strategic goals, and engaged in in-depth exchanges with the panel on promoting high-standard opening-up in education, continuously enhancing the quality of international talent cultivation, and expanding the University's global influence and competitiveness. the heads of the Undergraduate School, Graduate School, Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, and the School of Economics and Management participated in the discussion as well.
On the morning of March 31, the panel held a meeting with the School's management team. Professor Peng Biyu, Dean of the School, delivered a thematic report on behalf of the School, systematically summarizing the efforts in discipline construction, talent training and service to society. He expressed the School's commitment to further raising the level of international education and advancing the integrated development of education, science and technology, and student talent cultivation during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–2030).
During the visit, the panel also held separate meetings with heads of flagship programs and signature courses, faculty representatives, representatives of major graduate employers, alumni and current students to gain a thorough understanding of the School's operations according to the BGA gold re-accreditation standards.
On the afternoon of March 31, Vice President Wang Chunchao once again attended the accreditation feedback meeting on behalf of the University. The panel fully affirmed the work and achievements of both the University and the School in recent years. The panel noted that South China Normal University, as a national Double First-Class University and a Project 211 key university, is distinguished by its teacher education features and comprehensive disciplinary coverage. The School of Economics and Management has restructured its curriculum in response to industry trends such as the digital economy, low-altitude economy and data intelligence, and is focused on cultivating top-tier innovative talents in new business disciplines. The panel observed a high degree of synergy in strategic planning, discipline development, faculty building and talent cultivation, yielding remarkable outcomes. The panel unanimously endorsed the goals and plans set out in the School's 15th Five-Year Plan and expressed high expectations for the School as it continues to deepen high-level international education and grows into an outstanding school of economics and management with global influence.

The School of Economics and Management at SCNU has passed BGA re-accreditation and was granted the maximum five-year accreditation term, marking a new level of excellence in its international quality assurance system for business education and earning authoritative global recognition for its education standards. Going forward, the School will take this BGA accreditation as a new starting point, leverage the locational advantages and innovation ecosystem of Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center, accelerate integration into the global innovation network for business education, and strengthen its talent cultivation system. It remains committed to contributing to the building of a world-class university with distinctive teacher education features, a comprehensive disciplinary structure and a strong innovation culture, to cultivating top-tier innovative talents in new business disciplines, and to serving national economic and social development.
