On May 7, South China Normal University held fruitful exchanges with the Hong Kong Financial Services Institute (HKFSI) and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the latter.
A delegation from SCNU led by Wang Hengyin, Secretary of the CPC SCNU Committee, visited the two institutions separately. In the morning, the delegation held extensive talks at the Hong Kong Financial Services Institute with its Chairman Wang Zhongying. Both sides reviewed the achievements in their existing cooperation, exchanged in-depth views on the newly-established majors and explored future cooperation prospects.
In the afternoon, the delegation met with Anna CY Chan, Director of HKAPA, and Gordon Munro, Deputy Director of HKAPA. Both sides held detailed consultations on areas including artistic talent cultivation and coordinated development of academic disciplines. Following the discussions, SCNU and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts reached consensus on in-depth collaboration and signed the MOU.

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts is a world-leading higher education institution specializing in performing arts. According to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, HKAPA's performing arts discipline ranks 10th globally and 1st in Asia. The partnership between the two universities marks SCNU's milestone in higher education cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, representing a significant initiative in expanding the exchanges of arts and humanities education. It injects new momentum into the development of educational integration in the Greater Bay Area.
SCNU's heads from the CPC SCNU Committee and President's Office (Research Office), the Publicity Department of the CPC SCNU Committee (United Front Work Department), the Graduate School, the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office, and the School of Music accompanied the delegation throughout the visit.
