A teaching achievement project led by Yan Haina, professor of the School of Politics and Public Administration of SCNU, has been awarded the Second Prize of the Guangdong Provincial Excellent Teaching Achievement Award (Undergraduate Category) for 2025. The award was jointly announced by the Human Resources and Social Security Department of Guangdong Province and the Department of Education of Guangdong Province.
The award-winning project, titled "Upholding Fundamental Principles·Curriculum Clusters·Digital-Intelligent Enhancement: Cultivating Innovative Talents for Public Governance in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area," was jointly completed by Associate Professors Zhang Weikun, Yu Gangqiang, and Fu Chengzhe, among others.
Rooted in the development needs of the Greater Bay Area, the project addresses key challenges in teaching, and develops an educational system featuring “upholding fundamental principles with value identification, building interdisciplinary foundations through curriculum clusters, and nurturing the ethical application of technology via artificial intelligent practice.” The team utilized a provincial-level virtual teaching platform to integrate over 50 courses into interdisciplinary clusters. Following a four-stage teaching logic-comprehension, mastery, practice, and application-the project established a collaborative teaching ecosystem for joint fieldwork, co-developed course designs, and shared teaching resources. This approach transformed fragmented innovations in individual courses into a systematic restructuring of the curriculum clusters.
The project also introduced issue-based teaching methods, systematically integrated ideological and political elements into the curriculum, and built practical application scenarios through multi-party collaboration with government, research institutions, enterprises, communities and universities. These efforts strengthened students' artificial-intelligent literacy and enhanced their ability to solve practical problems.
The School of Politics and Public Administration of SCNU has achieved remarkable results at the undergraduate level. As of 2025, four of its majors have been recognized as National First-Class Undergraduate Majors, and eight courses have been selected as national or provincial first-class courses. Students have achieved outstanding results in scientific innovation competitions and academic research, winning over 40 awards at or above the provincial level in events such as the "Challenge Cup." They have also published more than 50 academic papers, secured six national and eight provincial research projects, and contributed over 30 policy consultation reports adopted by governments at all levels. The faculty's practical activities have been reported by more than 100 media outlets, providing the Greater Bay Area with a large number of interdisciplinary and innovative talents.
