The 17th World Dragon Boat Racing Championships, organized by the International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF), was held in Brandenburg, Germany from July 14 to 21. Du Chunjie, a teacher from the School of Physical Education & Sports Science of SCNU, also an international-level dragon boat referee, served as a technical official for the tournament.

Approved by the General Administration of Sport of China, only four Chinese referees who can officiate international matches were selected by the Chinese Dragon Boat Association for the championships. Du Chunjie served as a race starter, responsible for overseeing the start of every race, in collaboration with fellow referees worldwide to ensure the event's fairness, impartiality, and smooth operation.
