From May 26 to 30, SCNU postgraduate students enrolled under the National Excellent Teacher Training Initiative (NETTI) carried out teaching practice in primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong, which is the first-of-its-kind program held in the region.
Led by Wang Hong, director of the Faculty of Teacher Education of SCNU, and Huang Rui, vice dean of the Graduate School of SCNU, the postgraduate students went to six primary and secondary schools, namely, Kowloon Technical School, Chang Ming Thien College, SKH Kei Hau Secondary School, Hennessy Road Government Primary School, Po Leung Kuk Lam Man Chan English Primary School and Tseung Kwan O Methodist Primary School.

The principals of these six schools extended a cordial welcome to students and teachers of SCNU, and introduced their schools history, educational principles, characteristic courses, and made arrangements for peer observation and other activities.
Hong Kong's basic education has achieved remarkable achievements in areas such as the cultivation of scientific literacy, family-school partnership, and national security education. Students are encouraged to reflect on common problems and development opportunities in basic education during this exchange.

During the five-day practice, teachers and students engaged in activities in their respective educational disciplines, college admission, and curriculum development. They also had in-depth discussions on topics such as the development of STEM education and AI in education.
Launched in 2023, the National Excellent Teacher Training Initiative has been implemented by Chinese government, which aims to improve the teacher education system and lay a solid foundation for talents cultivation of the country. Students with excellent performance in their majors and have an interest in teaching were selected to enrolled under the initiative from a number of high-level universities across the country. Previously SCNU students have also completed teaching practice in Macao.
