The second forum on "Artificial Intelligence and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao High-quality Economic Development" was held at the Foshan campus of SCNU on May 10-11. Over 200 experts, scholars, and representatives from more than 40 universities across China gathered to discuss cutting-edge topics in digital economy and artificial intelligence.

At the opening ceremony, Gong Ke, former president of Nankai University and executive dean of Chinese Institute of New Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Strategies, emphasized in his speech that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as one of China’s most open and economically vibrant regions, should leverage AI as a "core engine" to drive industrial transformation and high-quality development.

Liu Jianwen, vice president of SCNU, introduced the university’s historical heritage, disciplinary strengths, and achievements in serving national strategic goals. He called for collaborative efforts between academia and industry to explore new pathways for the coordinated development of AI and the digital economy.

During the main forum, six keynote speeches were delivered covering hot topics such as large language models, smart production chain, and new productive forces, providing theoretical foundations for the practical application of AI technologies.
At the roundtable session, technical executives from Baidu, Midea Group, and Huawei Technologies joined academic experts to share practical cases of AI-driven industrial transformation, including intelligent upgrades in traditional manufacturing and autonomous driving technologies. Experts analyzed the effectiveness of big data analytics and industrial chain collaboration, offering valuable insights for digital transformation of enterprises in the Greater Bay Area.

Also at the forum, the Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and Economy and Social Studies hosted the Symposium on AI Empowering High-Quality Development of New Industrialization and Annual Conference of the Center. Scholars and experts from institutions such as the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and Baidu engaged in cross-disciplinary dialogues on topics including tariff policies, AI governance, and industrial-scale applications of large models, sparking lively interactions with other teachers and students partcipating in the meeting.
Additionally, a journal peer-review session was held, during which senior editors from eight national academic journals, together with experts from the International Business College of SCNU, provided professional guidance on over 200 research papers in the field of AI and digital economy development by scholars from leading universities from across the country like Fudan University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.

The forum was jointly organized by South China Normal University (SCNU) and Nankai University, and hosted by the International Business College of SCNU. It served as a high-quality platform for showcasing academic achievements, sharing industry applications, and fostering collaboration.
