SCNU students won one first prize and two second prizes in the finals of the 16th edition of the Chinese Mathematics Competition for College Students (CMC) which took place at Zhejiang Normal University from April 11 to 13. SCNU ranked fourth among the universities in Guangdong province and achieved the best results for SCNU in a single edition of the competition.

The finals were divided into three categories: the senior mathematics group, the junior mathematics group, and the non-mathematics major group. Cheng Haoxuan, a 2021 undergraduate from the School of Mathematical Sciences, received the national first prize in the senior mathematics group. Wu Hengjie, a 2022 undergraduate from the School of Mathematical Sciences, won the national second prize in the senior mathematics group. The 2023 undergraduate from the School of Artificial Intelligence, Cai Zhuohong, got the national second prize of class A.

The Chinese Mathematics Competition (CMC) is a national high-level competition for undergraduate students. Sponsored by the Chinese Mathematical Society, the CMC aims to foster the interests of university students in learning mathematics, and to cultivate innovative talents in the mathematical field. The 16th edition covers 32 regions and involves over 1,223 universities, with more than 320,000 students participating. After a rigorous selection processes, 1,254 students from 352 universities reached the finals, marking this edition the largest scale event in the history of the Chinese Mathematics Competition.
