From April 15 to 18, the social practice activity of "Perceiving China" organized by the SCNU Office of International Exchange & Cooperation was successfully held on Zhanjiang, Guangdong province.
The activity, which was supported by the China Scholarship Council, attracted 12 international students from 10 countries, including Latvia, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tanzania. It aimed at deepening international students' understanding of China's development in economy and society.

During the activity, the students went to various places. They first witnessed the intangible cultural heritage of traditional salt-making techniques at the salt field in Xuwen County, a small township of Zhanjiang, then visited the exhibition hall and the museum at Xuwen Coral Reef National Nature Reserve, learning the situation of coral and marine environmental protection through physical objects and VR technology.
After that, students went to Southest Village of Chinese Mainland (Nanji Village) at Jiaowei Township, set foot on the southernmost tip of the Chinese mainland, and conducted on-site inspections of the geographical boundary line - the Confluence Line. They visited Xuwen Port to observe the operation of the cross-sea ferry across the Qiongzhou Strait.
They also investigated the integrated development of modern agriculture and cultural and tourism industries in the "the Sea of Pineapples" National Modern Agricultural Industrial Park. Students then visited Naliu Village in Zhanjiang to see the situation of rural revitalization and the construction of new countryside, and inspected the situation of the protection of precious plants and ecological environment in the Mangrove Forest of Jinniu Island.

Through the four-day field study, the international students gained hands-on experience with the unique geographical features and abundant historical culture of the Leizhou peninsula.
