SCNU’s athletes won 28 gold medals, 26 silver medals, and 15 bronze medals at the 2024 Guangdong Provincial College Students Athletics Championships which was held in Jinan University, Shipai Campus.
Fifty athletes from SCNU participated in the competition. Under the joint leadership of the team leader, Huang Bo, the vice dean of the School of Physical Education & Sports Science, and the coaches Feng Yun, Zeng Honghui and Huang Qiaoxian, the athletes ranked first in the overall score of Group B-I and Group B-II, and rank third in the Group A-II. Feng Yun, Huang Qiaoxian and Zeng Honghui were awarded the title "Outstanding Coach".

In the competition, Gu Aolin and Yang Zongwen, students of the Sports Training major, reached the national-level athlete standard in women's triple jump and men's 200 meters respectively. In the Group A-II competition, Li Jing, a postgraduate student of the School of Information and Optoelectronic Science and Engineering, won two gold medals on the women's 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters, breaking the 28-year school record of SCNU with a time of 19 minutes and 28.09 seconds on the 5,000 meters.
A total of 1,867 athletes from 126 universities in Guangdong participated in the competition from November 28 to December 1 which was organized by the Department of Education of Guangdong province.
