Wang Binwei, secretary of the CPC SCNU Committee, led a delegation to 2024 National Teacher Education Work Conference, which convened in Chongqing, from December 16 to 17.

SCNU was one of five institutions invited to review distinctive features of teacher education. The conference consisted of two elements: discussion of the 2024 Program of Synergy-based Quality Improvement in Teacher Education and a seminar on high-quality development of teacher education in the new era. The program aims to train high-quality basic education teachers for underdeveloped areas of China, providing talent for rural education.

During the conference, Wang Binwei delivered a speech, emphasizing innovation of nurturing teachers’ ethics, training of teachers in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), and progress of the program.
He also elaborated on SCNU’s innovation and practice in nurturing the spirit of educators to strengthen the teacher workforce, integrated development of teacher education in the GBA, and promoting development of a high-quality teacher education system.
To make our country a powerhouse and foster virtue through education, Wang noted that SCNU would follow the guidance of the spirit of educators and cultivate more teaching professionals to improve the teacher education system with Chinese characteristics.

After the conference, SCNU and East China Normal University, as the leading institutions of the program, gathered with representatives from 15 teacher training colleges to further discuss the implementation of reform of teacher education and the program.
