The Center for Faculty Development of SCNU was awarded "Excellent Center for Faculty Teaching Development" at the 2024 National Conference on Centers for Faculty Teaching Development at Universities held in Xi'an from November 28 to 30.

Director Hu Xiaoyong and Vice Director Zhang Chen of the Center for Faculty Development of SCNU, along with Jiang Bixia, vice director of the center's Planning and Development Department, participated in the conference on behalf of SCNU.
Wu Shixing, deputy director of the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education (MOE), delivered a keynote report entitled "Enhance teaching ability of university teachers to improve comprehensive strength of higher education". In his report, Wu illustrated the new backdrop of higher education and proposed six key tasks to enhance teachers' teaching ability, which shed light on the orientation of the faculty teaching development in universities.
Song Yonggang, general manager and deputy secretary of the CPC committee of China Education Publishing & Media Group Ltd. , and three other representatives from the Education Department of Shaanxi, the National Center and Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) also gave reports. They reported on training of teaching staff and digital empowering of teacher development respectively and stressed the critical role of faculty teaching development in enhancing the effectiveness of education and teaching quality.
The inauguration ceremony of the national platform for faculty teaching development in universities was also held at the conference, and experts and scholars then exchanged teaching and learning in the "Intelligence +" era and digitalization for innovative development of higher education.

Under the guidance of the Department of Higher Education of MOE, the conference was organized by the Higher Education Institutions Teacher Online Training Center and held at XJTU. More than 800 guests attended including cadres of education departments across the country, related experts and scholars, and representatives of faculty teaching development departments from over 400 universities. In the name of South China Normal University, Zhang Chen participated in the seminar on developing the national platform for faculty teaching development in universities.
Since the establishment of the Center for Faculty Development of SCNU in 2015, the center has adhered to the educator spirit, implementing the school's "1238" development vision, promoting digital empowerment, intelligent upgrades, and integrated innovation. Additionally, it has fostered the teachers' teaching ability, thus the school could remain in the national leading league in teaching innovation competitions.
