To promote the internationalization of SCNU and encourage cultural exchange, the International Culture Festival of the Foshan campus and the 2nd Chinese-British Cultural Exchange Festival of the Aberdeen Institute were held on the Foshan campus on November 14.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, SCNU vice president Wang Chunchao said that the Foshan campus plays an important role in SCNU's internationalization strategy, and he hopes to use the opportunity of the International Cultural Festival to further promote international cultural exchange and the development of high-quality internationalized education.
Li Zhong, a bureau-level official of the Foshan Education Bureau, said that the International Culture Festival is aligned with the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area International Education Demonstration Zone. The Foshan Education Bureau will continue to support the development of SCNU's Foshan campus and jointly build a closer and sustainable school-community cooperation development mechanism.

Dr. Aiden Durrant, University of Aberdeen teaching representative, noted that since the partnership was established in 2007, SCNU and the University of Aberdeen have built a solid foundation of collaboration in a number of areas, including talent development and collaborative education.
A variety of activities also took place. Chinese and international students gave cultural performances, including martial arts, the traditional Chinese opera Tanchuang and a band performance of Let it be, a classic song by a British rock band, which received enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Students enjoyed a range of cultural activities on campus, including a photography exhibition and Nanhai paper cutting, etc., which are part of the festival.

The first "Exploring the World Discovering China" photography exhibition was held in the library and featured more than 100 works taken by SCNU students while studying on campus and overseas.

During the festival, the Aberdeen Institute also set up various traditional game stalls, including lantern riddle guessing, lacquer fan making, pitch pot, red nose, pancake race, heraldry game and so on. There were also Chinese-style photo booths and British film costume activities.

Also as part of the festival, a lecture themed "Building a bridge between Chinese and western cultures" was held in the library.
