The concert themed “Youth Praise to the Motherland” to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 2024 Freshman Welcome Gala were held on September 29, at the Concert Hall of the University Town campus. The gala night was also broadcast live on line, with more than 80,000 viewers, and 200,000 likes that night.
The gala night was mainly divided into two parts. The first part was a concert celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, with orchestral music performances as the main feature. The second part was a welcome party consisting of a medley of song, dance, recitation, and other performances.
The Celebratory Concert
The concert opened with the classic symphonic choral work "Without the Communist Party, there would be no New China," and another stirring symphonic choral work, "Roar, Yellow River". These two choral performances, witch musically recalled the 75-year history of the motherland, and the gala night expressed the patriotic passion of youth.

The concert then featured solo vocal performances by professors of the School of Music. Some sang heartfelt ballads, while others performed stirring anthems - all celebrating the prosperity of the great motherland and showing SCNUers' unwavering loyalty to the Party and the nation.

With melodies conveying deep emotions and notes weaving a magnificent chapter, the following symphonic band and orchestra performance was an artistic feast, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The Welcome Party
The second part of the gala night was the welcome part. It began with an interactive performance by the art troupe and representatives from different schools. They portrayed different roles, including cutting-edge researchers, Olympic athletes, and dedicated teachers. All SCNUers!

The following short play and dance performance took the audience back in time to follow in the footsteps of Mr Lin Liru, the founder of SCNU. Through this artistic journey, the audience witnessed the SCNU's resilience in overcoming challenges and hardships to emerge into a vibrant new era full of hope and promise.

The following recitation and dance performances showcased the vibrant spirit and energy of SCNUers. The recitation was a dialogue through the ages, where esteemed predecessors from the university's history met the new students. Meanwhile, the dance performance, organized by various student clubs, featured acrobatic dances, martial arts and other displays.

Rooted in the southern Guangdong region, SCNU is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Lingnan culture. The dance performance “Acquiring Lingnan Culture through Dancing” showcases unique cultural forms.

At the end of the welcome party and the gala night, the choral songs Setting Off and Ode to the Motherland brought the gala evening to an exciting climax, expressing the wishes for the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and and the promising future of the SCNU.
