On September 21, over 200 scholars and graduate students from universities and research institutions across the country gathered at SCNU to discuss issues on the integration of education, innovation in science and technology, and economic development.

This gathering was part of the 2024 Guangzhou Changjiang Education Forum and the Second Academic Forum on “Promoting Better Integration of Education, Sci-Tech Innovation, and Economic Development.” The forum aimed to explore the way for the deep integration of these three areas, and provide intellectual support to make China a leading country in education.
Wang Binwei welcomes the guests and introduces the educational management of SCNU.
In the opening speech, Wang Binwei, secretary of the CPC SCNU Committee, welcomed the guests on behalf of SCNU and introduced the educational management of SCNU from four aspects—history, scale, characteristics and vision. He stressed the importance of education in national development and further pointed out the significance of this forum in this respect. He looked forward to hearing valuable views and advice from experts, which would not only promote the integration of education, the innovation of science and technology, and economic development, but also facilitate the development of the comprehensive discipline of Education at SCNU.
Zhou Hongyu emphasizes the fundamental and strategic roles of education, science and technology, and talent for the Chinese path to modernization.
Zhou Hongyu, vice president of the Chinese Society of Education, spoke on behalf of Changjiang Education Research Institute and the Institute for Educational Governance Studies, Central China Normal University. He emphasized the fundamental and strategic roles of education, science and technology, and talent for the Chinese path to modernization. He noted that the convening of this forum was timely, as it aims at thoroughly studying and implementing the spirit of President Xi Jinping's speech on developing China into a leading nation in education. It also aims to promote the deep integration of education, scientific and technological innovation, and economic development.
Lu Xiaozhong expects experts to freely express their opinions and engage in thorough exchange of ideas.
In his speech, Lu Xiaozhong, dean of the Institute for Advanced Study of Education Development in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, SCNU, said that that the theme of the forum highlighted the fundamental and strategic roles of education, science and technology, and talent for the Chinese path to modernization. It is also a significant issue for deepening comprehensive education reform. He expected experts to freely express their opinions and engage in thorough exchange of ideas, contributing their intellectual strength to develop China into a leading nation in education.
The following keynote reports featured addresses from scholars and experts from 11 universities and institutes, who shared their thoughts on the integration of education, innovation of science and technology, and economic development.

At the closing ceremony, Professor Chen Xianzhe, vice director of the Institute for Advanced Study of Education Development in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, SCNU, provided a summary. He pointed out that the experts had contributed insightful theories and wisdom. The consensus of the forum was to enhance systematic thinking and fully stimulate the enthusiasm of different people in education. This would build a better synergy among government guidance, school leadership, corporate participation, and social support, serving the overall national development strategy. He gave credit of the success of the forum to all participants for their support.
The forum was jointly hosted by the Institute for Advanced Study of Education Development in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, SCNU, the Changjiang Education Research Institute, and the Institute for Educational Governance Studies, Central China Normal University.
