The Forum on AI and the Future of Teaching, part of the 2024 Global Smart Education Conference (GSE) was held on August 20 in Beijing. More than 500 guests from China, France, Russia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Ethiopia, Morocco and other countries and regions attended the forum.
The forum focused on the core topics of "The Challenges of Generative Artificial Intelligence on Teachers' Professional Competence", "Ways and Methods of AI-Enabled High-Quality Cultivation of Pre-service Teachers", and "Paths, Modes and Methods of Intelligent Teaching and Research to Promote Teachers' Development", involving four keynote reports and ten presentations.
Lu Xuzhong, Level I Bureau Rank Official of the Department of Teacher Education of the Ministry of Education, and Professor Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, executive president of International Artificial Intelligence Centre of Morocco, and Zhu Xudong, head of the Faculty of Education of Beijing Normal University gave their opening speech respectively.
Professor Hu Xiaoyong, director of the Teacher Development Centre and executive director of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence in Education, made a keynote report titled "Artificial Intelligence Empowers the Cultivation of Pre-Service Teachers". Focusing on the supply, effectiveness and developmental problems that exist in pre-service teachers' basic teaching skills training in Chinese teacher training colleges, Hu elaborated on the innovative practice of "assisting basic teaching skills training of pre-service teachers with artificial intelligence" carried out by the Institute of Artificial Intelligence in Education, the Graduate School and the Teacher Development Centre under the support of the leaders of SCNU.

During the forum, the Report on the development of intelligent Training of Basic Teaching Skills of pre-service teachers, developed by the team of SCNU was released. The report integrates theory, technology, scene model and application landing, and was widely praised by the participants.

The forum was co-organized by the UNESCO Institute for Information Technology in Education, the Faculty of Education of Beijing Normal University, the UNESCO Chair on Artificial Intelligence in Education and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence in Education of SCNU.
Established in 2001, the Institute of Artificial Intelligence in Education of SCNU aims to cultivate a number of high-end inter-disciplinary master's, doctoral and postdoctoral research talents in the field of "Education + Artificial Intelligence".
