Lu Xiaozhong is a distinguished professor of the Major Talent Program of the Ministry of Education, a leading talent in Philosophy and Social Sciences under the State Special Support Program, a "Cultural master in four groups of talents" of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, and an expert enjoying a special government allowance of the State Council.

Lu Xiaozhong has always deeply engaged in the field of education. In order to provide opportunities for young teachers and graduate and doctoral students to demonstrate and communicate, he established various characteristic academic salon activities.

"Future education free from AI shouldn't be seen as welfare and charity, but as a necessity," says Lu Xiaozhong in an academic exchange about AI technology and education, "In our daily education research, we are to apply the perspective and resources of interactive courses to solve the complex problems arising in education."
To further support national education development, Lu Xiaozhong has led his team to carry out educational poverty alleviation services in poverty-stricken areas such as Taijiang, Guizhou and Shanwei, in Guangdong province. His work has been favorably recognized by the Ministry of the Central Organization of the CPC Central Committee and the Provincial Committee of the CPC League.
Lu Xiaozhong points out that the assistance should not only include material support, but more importantly, focus on helping to establish a sustainable educational system which serves as a cornerstone for the long-term development of local education. "The branch members are fully aware of their mission and the responsibility they shoulder in participating in the practical work," he says.
Talking about the team's future development plans, Lu Xiaozhong believes there are three important points. First, maintain the leading position of the team in the education development in the Greater Bay Area (GBA). Second, promote and support a world-class course development for Chinese education. Third, build an education research center in the GBA.
"Dedicated to the scientific research business."
In 2019, the Higher Institute for Education Development in the GBA officially kicked off at SCNU. Lu Xiaozhong and his team members adhere to the idea that scientific research should be rooted in the motherland. They explore how education could better serve the development of the GBA, committing to setting up a first-rate institute of higher learning and a high-end think tank in the field of education research in the GBA.
Since its establishment, the institute has achieved a lot. In December 2020, the institute was listed among "China Think Tank Index (CTTI)" for the first time. In 2022 and 2023, the institute was selected as one of China's education think tanks for two consecutive years.
"Scientific research is not an empty talk," as Lu Xiaozhong particularly emphasizes, "Instead, it is connected to practice." The institute should constantly produce high-quality and academically-recognized results. This is the only way that scientific research can manage to maintain its lasting vitality.
Not long ago, Lu Xiaozhong was interviewed by China Education Television during the National Conference on Educational Research. He had just been appointed by the National Leading Group of Educational Science as a member of the expert group on the development of Chinese pedagogy.

The research and consulting report completed by Lu Xiaozhong has won the First Prize in Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Science Research of Guangdong province three times. His team beat all competitors and ranked first on China's education think tank list. Lu and his team have also been highly praised in a report by Southern Daily on June 5, 2015.
Under his meticulous guidance and dedicated support, over the past three years, one of the team members was selected as a national young talent, and another as a young top-notch talent in Guangdong province.
"Help students become talents!"
Lu Xiaozhong believes that cooperation between teachers and students matters a lot. After discussing with students, Lu Xiaozhong promotes learning through research and helps them grow and become successful. Meanwhile, Lu Xiaozhong also respects each student's ideas, ensuring that everyone has their own space for growth.
Ning Yunhua, a 2021 master student majoring in Higher Education in the College of Educational Science, says, "Mr. Lu's understanding of the basic concepts related to education is very accurate and in-depth. He is good at closely integrating pedagogical knowledge with current affairs and hot topics, guiding us to have in-depth discussions. Not only does he analyze from a professional view, but he also touches on politics, economy, culture, and individual differences." With his professional guidance, students have won many awards in competitions, and published outstanding papers in significant academic journals.
Lu has always held high standards for both himself and his students. No matter how trivial the task, he strives to do his best. He sets a good example, and his scientific rigidity inspires students to pursue excellence in academics and in life. Contemporary youth are very energetic, and I hope that students can be down-to-earth and detail-focused, according to Lu Xiaozhong. Youth is a golden period in which young people are exposed to amazing novel things. He hopes adolescents will uphold an open and innovative attitude, embrace the new round of technological changes, and draft an awesome chapter in the new era.
