The SCNU women's soccer team won the third place in the 2023-2024 China University Football Association Division Two Women's League, beating the Changsha University of Science & Technology (CSUST) team with a score of 3-1 in the third-place match. This marks the best performance in the national university soccer tournament of SCNU.

With enthusiasm and a strong fighting spirit, all the players showed their tenacious will and excellent tactical level during the fierce competition with the guidance of the coaches Liu Feizhen, Zhong Yuanjin and Wen Jiande. During the match against the CSUST team, the SCNU women's soccer team was tied 1:1 in the first half. However, in the second half, No. 4 Song Shuting scored a place kick, finally beat the opponent by 3:1 and won the third place in the competition.
Previously, the SCNU women's soccer team competed the Northwestern University team and the Beijing Sport University team in the group stage, with the excellent performance of the players, they successfully drew with the Beijing Sport University team and made it to the final sixteen. In the knockout round, the SCNU team beat the Taiyuan University of Technology team 2:0 and defeated the Donghua University team in the shootout to advance to the national quarterfinals. In the semi-final, the team members lost to the Beijing Sport University team 0:2, but they quickly adjusted their status and made every effort to prepare for the third-place match.

Hosted by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and executed by the China Student Sports Federation, the tournament brought high-level teams from 23 universities across China together.
