South China Normal University (SCNU) and the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) have signed an agreement to build a joint research base on HK teaching materials, which marks further cooperation between the two sides.
During the meeting, Tan Weihong, director of the Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs Office of SCNU, reviewed the profound history of cooperation between SCNU and the Education University of Hong Kong, and she hoped that the two sides could develop a more in-depth and diversified mode of collaboration.

Prof. Yan Zi, head of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction of the Education University of Hong Kong gave a detailed introduction to the basic situation and research directions of the department. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the university's cooperation and exchanges with the Chinese mainland, especially with SCNU in recent years, in the hope that this will promote the flow of talent, concentrate high-quality teaching and research resources, and achieve complementary advantages.
Prof. Ma Zaoming, Executive Director of the National Research Institute for Teaching Materials of SCNU, elaborated on the important tasks and missions of the organization and explained the reasons and objectives of establishing the joint base for textbook research in Hong Kong with the EdUHK.

Witnessed by all the participants, Yan Zi and Ma Zaoming signed the Memorandum of Cooperation between SCNU and the Education University of Hong Kong, marking the official establishment of the Joint Base for Textbook Research in Hong Kong. Both sides had in-depth discussions on the position, mission, and mode of cooperation of the joint base, and reached consensus on the areas of textbooks publication, student exchange, conference organization, and project application.
The establishment of the joint research base on HK teaching materials is expected to offer a precise matching of the development needs of basic education in Guangdong and Hong Kong. It is also conducive to building up a multi-faceted education cooperation system and further contributing to education reform and development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
