On May 18, SCNU's postgraduate team of the College of Vocational and Technical Education won the first prize in the finals of the 14th National College Student Market Survey and Analysis Competition for postgraduates.
The five-student team, against other 150 finalist teams from colleges and universities across the country, completed the report presentation and question-and-answer sessions under the guidance of professor Zhang Dengju and associate professor Lin Yu. They researched what is known about, and the use of automated external defibrillator or automatic electronic defibrillatorS (AEDs) among urban residents in Shanwei, a city located in eastern Guangdong Province, China.

Previously, the team participated in the finals of the market research competition for graduate students in Guangdong Province and competed against 19 teams from other universities, ultimately securing a national competition recommendation. They also stood out from the 180 teams across the country in the preliminary, and entered into the finals.

The competition was launched in September 2023, with a total of 1,063 colleges and 295,000 students from the mainland actively participating in the competition. Teams that participated in the postgraduate division ranged from 392 schools across 28 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China.
The National College Student Market Survey and Analysis Competition was founded by the China Association for Business Statistics in 2010. Since 2018, the competition ranks among the top competitions in the National List of General College Competitions for six consecutive years, and is the only nationwide excellent competition project in the field of statistics.
