SCNU pocketed the Guangdong Victory Cup once more in the 14th "Challenge Cup" Entrepreneurship Competition for Guangdong College Students, with three gold, eight silver and nine bronze. The championship made SCNU the one with most awards overall among all other participating colleges and universities in Guangdong.

The university-wide competition was launched in July 2023, with a total number of 2,468 participating projects. 309 works entered the rematch, and 264 of them won the university-level awards after 3 rounds of evaluation. 20 outstanding projects, including two from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese students, were selected by SCNU to be entries for this year's provincial competition, and 11 went through to the final contest, nine for bronze awards.
SCNU attached great importance to the Entrepreneurship Competition. SCNU vice president He Jingtao offered guidance to the preparation of student teams multiple times, and listened to the project reports at the provincial finals to give suggestions. SCNU also organized experts to assist students with the polishing of business plans writing, PPT making, defense skills, project roadshows and so forth, more than 50 times. The projects were also internally polished once or twice a week.

In addition, SCNU has been encouraging and supporting students' innovative and entrepreneurial attempts regularly. Activities such as "Scholars Afternoon Tea” and “Entrepreneurs’ Salon” are widely carried out to teach innovation and entrepreneurship skills. Potential innovation and entrepreneurship projects were discovered and supported. To guarantee the further development of scientific research practice, a three-level system of “school-university-province” was also created through projects such as “Golden Seed”, general topics, and “Climbing Plan”.
SCNU also actively promotes the cultivation of innovative talent in science and technology and the commercialization of innovations. Among the projects recommended to compete in the provincial competition, four have been funded with “Climbing Plan” special funds, 2 have been awarded the provincial key team of the 2023 Guangdong young college students “High-Quality Development Project for Hundreds of Counties, Thousands of Towns, and Myriads of Villages” commando action, and four have been implemented in counties.
The finals of the 14th“Challenge Cup” Entrepreneurship Competition for Guangdong College Students was held at South China Agricultural University on May 19. A total of 34,000 works from 157 universities and 180,000 contestants entered the competition. Eventually, 124 universities and 525 works were selected for the final stage.

The “Challenge Cup” Entrepreneurship Competition for Guangdong College Students is co-sponsored by the Guangdong Communist Youth League Committee, the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, the Guangdong Provincial Association for Science and Technology and the Guangdong Federation of Students. It has encouraged more than one million students to take part in innovative practice.
In recent years, SCNU has been continuously making breakthroughs in the “Challenge Cup” Entrepreneurship Competition for College Students. In the 2018 national competition, SCNU won 1 gold and 1 bronze medals, the best result ever. In the 2020 national competition, SCNU once again achieved a record high, winning 1 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals, as well as the national Victory Cup for the first time. In the 2023 national competition, SCNU won 3 silver and 5 bronze medals, with the total score ranking second in Guangdong province, and seized the national Victory Cup once more.
